Shambhala Day

February 5th

Date details +

Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the New Year, based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar. This Year of the Earth Boar we will be meeting together in the evening for a community potluck before a tape delay of the international broadcast from earlier in the day.

    Schedule is as follows:

6:00 Potluck gathering — Please RSVP to Steve Bernath if you plan on attending so we can estimate table space needed, however drop-ins are welcome.
    7:00 - Shambhala Day Broadcast

The broadcast this year will include greetings from Halifax and Dechen Chöling, a lhasang, group practice, a fundraising request, Shambhala culture from around the world, reading the I Ching for this year, and singing the Shambhala Anthem together.

Donations to this year’s Shambhala Day campaign will support Shambhala Global Services. The critical infrastructure and resources provided by Shambhala Global Services are an important aspect of supporting spaces of sanity, dignity, and basic goodness where local communities can gather. By giving generously to support Shambhala Global Services, we can support the simplicity and earthiness of making the Shambhala dharma available to ourselves and others.

Note: If you cannot attend the community potluck and broadcast on 2/5, we will be re-showing the broadcast on 2/10 after Sunday sitting and tea, at 11:30.
